Ghost Tour & Haunted Fitness Hike: The Walhalla Witch

There are places in Columbus where the air feels… wrong. Not dangerous in the obvious sense, but heavy. Like something has been watching longer than it should have. Walhalla Road is one of those places. And if you’ve ever walked it at night, you already know.

We begin at Lucky’s Market on High Street. From there, we move with purpose. A three-mile haunted fitness hike, steady pace, nothing casual about it. Up High Street until we reach Walhalla Rd, where the atmosphere shifts. The ravine pulls you in. The trees close overhead. And then you’ll see it, the Calumet Bridge. People say it’s haunted. I’ll let you decide that for yourself. Not far from there stands the infamous Mooney Manor, a structure that feels less abandoned and more… waiting.

We don’t stop long. We push forward. Out of the ravine and back into civilization, briefly. We regroup at Studio 35 Cinema & Drafthouse for a drink. A moment to reset. Because what comes next is where things get interesting.

From there, we head toward the Glen Echo Bird Tunnel. If you’ve never been through it at night, you’ll understand why it has a reputation. Sound behaves strangely there. Light doesn’t quite sit right. And beyond it, there’s a hidden path most people miss entirely. We take that path.

Eventually, we loop back toward Lucky’s Market. That’s where most people would call it a night.

We don’t.

Because there’s one more descent.

The forbidden path. The one that leads to what locals call The Gates of Hell. A network of tunnels buried beneath the surface, where the temperature drops, the echoes stretch, and the question becomes very simple:

What’s actually on the other side?
